Making it easier for SMEs to afford BI tools

KUALA LUMPUR: Business software solutions expert SAP is collaborating with Alliance Bank to offer flexible financing payment options to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that want to invest in subscription-based business intelligence tools.
These tools would enable the SMEs to drive performance improvements throughout the enterprise by being able to use business intelligence data more strategically.
The data provides an insight on everything that proprietors like to know about what makes their business tick - what works, what doesn't, and how much it all costs.
But adopting such solutions can sometimes be expensive and resource-intensive for most SMEs, said Serene Sia, managing director of SAP Malaysia.
"Some of these hurdles include, tighter budgets, less sophistication and organisational knowledge, lack of technology expertise and lower manpower, meaning less time to spend on planning and analysis," she said.
SAP's subscription-based solutions are tailored-made for SMEs and with the Alliance Bank tie-up, will be easier for the businesses to integrate into their organisation, Sia said.
Backed by an open BI platform, the SAP BusinessObjects Edge Standard, the tools provide secure and flexible ad hoc reporting, query and analysis, as well as dashboards.
"Users also benefit from the convenience of 'live' data access in the tools they use everyday, such as Microsoft Office and SharePoint," said Sia.
Three financing plans are available under the deal. The subscriptions range from RM8,800 to RM16,300 per month, inclusive of system implementation, hosting, ongoing support and updates.
The implementation will be done by SAP's local systems integrator, Chain Spirit Sdn Bhd. It will assess customer needs and requirements before making a recommendation.
Applicants can also negotiate payment methods that may be more suited to their business needs, according to Alliance Bank.
